Today’s album, assuming I get this post done tonight, features Eric Clapton again.
This time it’s the 1970 classic double album, Layla and other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominos.
The title track is another of those songs that regularly appeared in Tommy Vance’s Friday Rock Show’s top ten albums list. I’m sure that’s where I would have first heard Layla.
I got this album a couple of years ago from the Northside record fair held here in Cincinnati. I think I paid $4 for it.
Obviously I love the title track, but the rest of the album sounds great. a couple of other tracks stand out for me Bell Bottom Blues and Have You Ever Loved A Woman, which is also on his 1975 album E.C Was Here. An album I used to own on cassette, remember them!
Have I ever told you…This is going to be a new feature!
Have I ever told you I’ve seen Eric Clapton live? Well yes, I have!
I saw him, at what used to be the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham, England,on his August tour. That’s August the album title, not August the month!
I saw him at the Silver Clef Awards show at Knebworth, England.
And I saw him at Wembley Stadium in England as well.
More details to follow on those gigs!
Back to the album, and for my favorite song of the album I’m going to pick Bell Bottom Blues. And yes, I did own a pair of bell bottom blues back in the late seventies!
And the connection to Day 16’s album is obviously Eric Clapton.
