Dropping behind already!

Day 19’s album was Electric Mud by Muddy Waters. It was released in 1968 on the Chess Record label. Well actually it was released by a subsidiary of Chess Records, called Cadet Concept Records.

It was the second release on the Cadet Concept Records label, the first being by a psychedelic group called Rotary Connection, who were used to back up Muddy Waters on Electric Mud.

The version I have is a reissue by Third Man Records, released in 2017.

I’ve got all the Muddy Waters singles reissued by Third Man Records and a greatest hits compilation, but have to say this is my favorite Muddy Waters record in my collection.

It has got a well weird version of Let’s Spend the Night Together, the Rolling Stones hit. It’s kind of mashed with Cream‘s Sunshine of your Love, done in a gospel, soul style. Like I said well weird!

Muddy Waters also wrote Trouble No More which is on the Live at Ludlow Garage – 1970 by The Allman Brothers Band, Day 18’s album.

And talking of the Rolling Stones….
