And yesterday’s album of the day was The Light Shines on by the Electric Light Orchestra, released in 1977 on the Harvest Records label.

The Electric Light Orchestra was one of the first bands I followed in my teen years. One of the first albums I bought myself was A New World Record, which is still one of my favorite albums.

The Light Shines on is a compilation of some of their earlier albums, and it contains Showdown, one of my favorite ELO singles. I’m sure I’ve got the single somewhere in my collection.

And it opens with their version of one of the all-time classic single, Roll Over Beetoven, written by Chuck Berry, who had a couple of tracks on the Best of Chess Rock ‘n’ Roll compilation, which was my album for Day 21.
