And today’s album is With The Beatles by, surprisingly enough, The Beatles! Released on the Parlophone label.
As you can see from the state of the cover this is the original mono release from 1963.
It’s in a pretty poor condition. I found it among a batch of records I recovered from my mother-in-laws shed a couple of years ago.
Considering the state of the cover, the record plays surprisingly well.
And what a record!
One of the first records my mum bought me was The Beatles Red album, the one with all the hits from 1962-1966. I’ve been a fan ever since, so I was well thrilled to find this.
There’s not one track I don’t like, even the covers are great versions of some classic songs. My favorite track , and this harks back to that album my mum bought me, is All My Loving. I love that song!
Talking of my mum, she was a big music fan and she’d have the radio on most of the time. One of the programs we used to listen to on the weekend was Junior Choice on BBC Radio One. a frequently played song was Seventy Six Trombones from the Broadway hit musical The Music Man. I’ve just found out that Till There Was You, on With the Beatles, comes from that same musical.
And the connection with yesterday’s album – Roll Over Beetoven, which appears on both albums.
