From the Ghost of Cincinnati to the Lights of Cincinnati.
On the turntable tonight it’s The Best of Scott Walker, originally released in 1969, my copy is a reissue from 1983, which I bought from a record fair in Sheffield three years ago.
I bought it on a whim for the princely sum of three quid. I’ve got a couple of my mum’s old Walker Brothers‘ singles in my collection, but hadn’t really heard much of Scott Walker‘s solo work.
I recognized a couple of the songs and having done a bit of research, aka been on Wikipedia, it seems that Scott Walker had a TV show on the BBC in 1969 that may be when I first heard them.
The Lights of Cincinnati has become a firm favorite of mine since buying the album.
