  • Neil Young – Harvest Moon

On the turntable tonight it’s Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

    Two days late, I know!

But here’s a photo of the Harvest Moon taken from our porch.

Harvest Moon is my favorite Neil Young album. I’m not a huge fan, but have a few of his albums in my collection.

I first became aware of the album when listening to the Saturday Sequence on BBC Radio One, presented by the late Johnnie Walker, RIP.

If I remember rightly he had Harvest Moon as his featured album one Saturday.

The three standout tracks to me are Unknown Legend, From Hank to Hendrix and Unknown Legend. All of which feature, amongst others, Linda Ronstadt on backing vocals.

I’ve been lucky enough to see Neil Young twice.

The first time was at the Fleadh Festival, at Finsbury Park in London on June 16, 2001. I’ll do a separate post about that day, it was an eventful day!

The second time was at Glastonbury Festival on June 26, 2009, again a post about Glastonbury 2009 will follow eventually.

Needless to say, both sets were brilliant!

I will have to mention that my current favorite band, Lord Huron, do a fine version of Harvest Moon!
